Climate Change - Is It Game Over?

No, it’s game on.

We know the facts, and we’ve seen the data. The projections may seem dismal, but there are those out there who are rejecting a fatalistic mindset when it concerns climate change. Sixteen-year old climate activist, Greta Thunberg, summarizes it best:

I want you to panic. I want you to act as if the house is on fire. Because it is…

‘But the climate crisis has already been solved. We already have all the facts and solutions. All we have to do is wake up and change.’

However, change is rarely simple, and it can be difficult to map out progress towards long-term sustainability goals. That’s where frameworks come into play.

Using Frameworks to Drive Change

The power behind credible frameworks is their ability to driving collective initiative across sectors, while easily communicating sustainability and social milestones. During our B Local, we took a look at the following three:

  1. B Corp: The most rigorous certification program for businesses who strive to use their business as a force for good.

  2. UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 17 global goals set by the UN General Assembly to achieve by the year 2030. This is the world’s to-do list.

  3. Project Drawdown: The most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse climate change. 100 scalable solutions, mapped, modeled, and measured.

So, how does your organization fit into these frameworks? Check out these handouts on the SDGs and Project Drawdown to identify how you are already contributing to these initiatives - and maybe to discover new milestones to aim for!
