B-Corp 101: Business as a Force for Good
This Lunch & Learn is designed to help businesses understand what a B-Corp is, who B-Corps are, why you should consider certification and how to get started. Participants will receive unlimited access to the ‘Measure What Matters’ tool – a free, confidential digital platform that will allow businesses to measure their impact in areas of governance, social responsibility, employee engagement and environmental footprint.

Join us for a presentation by Angela Wittmann from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) as well as a panel discussion and Q&A that includes two Manitoba based B-Corps, Manoverboard and Relish New Brand Experience.
Angela Wittmann, a Senior Account Manager at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), works with small and medium-sized businesses toward improving their strength and competitiveness. She is a BDC Champion for the B-Corp movement, social enterprises and cooperatives. B-Corp’s (certified “beneficial” corporation) are for-profit businesses that use their business to positively impact their employees, their community and the environment while being transparent and accountable.
Andrew Boardman is a designer and founder of Manoverboard, a purpose-driven design studio that provides digital platforms and sustainable strategies to socially responsible businesses, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. Andrew served on the board of GDC Manitoba for ten years. Last year, he was an adjunct instructor in the Graphic Design Program at Red River College. Manoverboard is the first Certified B Corporation in the province.
Suzanne Braun is a strategist, designer and Founding Partner of Relish New Brand Experience, a certified B-Corporation since 2017. She serves as Project Director for the Manitoba Open Innovation Challenge, a social innovation project designed to engage Manitobans in the innovative processes to address complex societal challenges. As a graduate of Impact8 (MaRS Discovery District/Toronto) – she was featured RBC Social Impact Entrepreneur for 2015. Suzanne serves on the board of directors for Level IT Up, a social enterprise dedicated to increasing the employment of Manitobans with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and is currently serving as a committee member for the B-Corp Leadership Development (BLD) Conference 2019.
